The start of classes and the end of my teenage years

How ironic is it that the same day classes started was also my birthday?! I woke up on Monday, full of determination, ready to start a new decade of my life and a new semester of school... and then promptly got lost on my way to class and showed up a minute or two late. The professor didn't mind, thankfully. He seemed pretty laid back. In fact, the entire school seems laid back and its almost frightening.

In all of my classes, not a single student would answer the professor or seemed to have a concept of "participation points", which I kind of began to understand as I attended more of my classes. Unlike in American schools, that have multiple homework assignments and projects throughout the year, most classes in British universities have one or two assignments before the final, with the final being worth most of the grade for that class. This sounds amazing except for the fact that most of the work you have to do is reading textbooks (something I absolutely despise) and then have your ENTIRE GRADE based on two assignments. On one hand, it's great not having homework. On the other hand, I have multiple in-depth researched reports due in December.

The only class that has had some sense of normalcy is my Resident Director course (SUS 314) which, by the way, I have paper on Westminster Abbey due on Wednesday for. I've been trying to figure out what in the world I'm going to do for that paper, but I'm sure I'll figure it out. Probably something about Edward I. He was pretty cool.
