Secret Pubs and the Formative Assessment

This week was actually rather uneventful except that my first formative assignment was due and I had an incredibly fun tour of secret pubs around London with the social program.

I guess I'll get the big boring elephant out of the room; my first formative assignment was due on Friday and it really brought into context how little time I have left in London. Technically, I missed the deadline as I didn't have everything done, but the "assessment" is really for getting the professor's feedback for our summative assessment at the end of the semester and we are still able to turn it in late, it will just take longer to get feedback. It is worth 0% of our grade so I figured I might as well do the whole thing to do better on the summative. The assignment is to analyze the buyout of South African Brewing Miller by Anheuser-Busch InBev and all the fancy issues that come along with that. I've gotten pretty far, but I still have some work to do.

On a more fun note, I got to go on an incredible tour of secret pubs in London. It was a lot of fun, as some of those pubs had a lot of history, like "Ye Olde Cheshire Cheese", the first pub to be rebuilt after the Great Fire of London in 1666. It even had a classic fireplace inside that reminded me of home!

I might have to go back just for that, as I have definitely been swept up in the Christmas spirit. I've honestly been so excited to see the Christmas season while in London, given that one of the most famous Christmas stories ever told is based here! Unfortunately though, I have learned a sad truth: it does not actually snow in London. It might occasionally dust snow in the winter, but it does not snow heavy like it does at home, which is kind of disappointing. After all, what's the point of cold weather if it isn't gonna snow?!?
