Food and Culture
London is a vibrant city with many different type of people and cuisine that is unfamiliar to me. As a cook and lover of food, I have made a great effort to compile my favorite dishes in London as well as other unique cultural aspects of the city.
Steak and Ale Pie
Steak and Ale Pie is a British classic consisting of steak and veggies that have been cooked in English ale and then baked in a flakey pie crust. This one is served with a wedge of cabbage and thick-cut chips!

Full English Breakfast
The Full English Breakfast consists of eggs, back bacon, mushrooms, beans, toast and hashbrowns, however other iterations also include black and/or white pudding, a type of blood sausage mixed with oats. This spread from the Village Inn also came with Earl Grey tea!
Bubble Wrap Ice Cream
Originally from Hong Kong, this treat made its way over to London where it became popular in the city's China Town area. The one shown here from Bubblewrap London is made of Hazelnut ice cream topped with peanuts and peanut butter drizzle.

Corn Cake
One of the best parts of going abroad is seeing a different country views other countries themselves; especially ones that are a lot closer to home. This "corn cake" (topped with homemade corn ice cream!) from El Pastor in Borough Market appears to be what some in London might consider a "Mexican dessert". As someone who has eaten at Mexican restaurants many times in my life, I must say that it is a good guess, but not quite what our southern neighbors call dessert. Either way, it was still really good!
